Welcome to The 2026 Devo Cup!
We are very excited to announce the largest ever field to tee off in this year’s Devo Cup!
The inaugural Devo Cup in 2012 was created as a light-hearted and friendly challenge. Mounds View Class of ’84 was the first to step up and enter. After finding out the opponent would be MV ’84, it was hard to find another group up to the challenge. The newly formed Devo Cup Committee (DCC) came up with the idea of MV ’84 taking on The World. Almost immediately, it turned into a fierce competition where tensions run high between opponents and sometimes even teammates. This first year set the tone for this annual battle. The pressure was very intense and all singles matches came down to the very last hole. What happened there will forever be known as "The Chokes at the Oaks". And it helped MV '84 win the 1st ever Devo Cup. Look for details about this story in a future installment of ESPN’s 30 for 30.
Mounds View ‘84 won 6 straight Devo Cups, including the 2017 matches. After this continued MV ‘84 dominance, the Devo Cup Committee expanded in 2018 w/6+ players per side. As a part of that expansion, other Mounds View classes and those with Mounds View lineage have been invited to partner with MV ‘84 to become “Mounds View”. This gave The World team a chance to bring in some exciting new talent (possibly even more talented than advertised). In the 2018 matches, The World tallied their most points ever to win their first ever Devo Cup. Though an investigation is still ongoing, The World still recognized as the 2018 Champions but with an asterisk*. The suspect circumstances of the 2018 matches truly re-energized this resilient Mounds View team. In 2019, Mounds View reclaimed the Devo Cup with a convincing 15-4 victory over The World. In 2020 the matches were not played and Mounds View retained the Cup. Mounds View stretched the victory string to 3 years with a 13.5 to 10.5 victory in 2021. In 2022, The World brought their A games and were victorious for a 2nd time, but that win is once again under investigation. The 2023 Devo Cup featured the most exciting finish, since 2012. “The Putt Heard Around the World” is when Jim Petersen had a 4 foot putt on the 9th Green to win his match 5-4, seal an 18-17 victory for The World and give them their 2nd straight Devo Cup. Jim Pete was clutch and drained it! An impromptu victory celebration broke out in song, dance and chanting. While described by many as a “bit effeminate”, The World celebration was very endearing, while also stoking the competitive fire of The Mounds View squad for 2024 revenge. However, that victory may be short-lived. Unfortunately, The World’s 2023 “victory” is under investigation once again, due to some extremely serious allegations. While this is still being viewed as a victory for Team World, it will have an asterisk next to it again. Check back here for more details on these ongoing investigations. Mounds View handily won the 2024 Devo Cup and went on to repeat in 2025 with Jim Petersen, once again, sinking the winning putt.

The Devo Cup has the greatest fans on earth and they are asking……practically begging for more Devo Cup matches. Always wanting to find a way to please our fans, The DCC created The Devo Cup Signature Series Events. These will usually be singles or doubles “challenge” matches. The fans have loved them because it means Devo Cup is more than 1 weekend a year. Team Mounds View loves them because Mound View is ALWAYS ready to go. Across the globe, these Mounds View men are known for always being battle-ready and their LFG attitude. Unfortunately, there has been many complaints, some whining and even a few tears from The World. Apparently, some of them are only comfortable playing the ultimate competitive golf one weekend per year. With that said, these Signature Series Events will continue with these events counting for Devo Cup points. When asked about his thoughts on the complaining and whining from his new World team, John Traeger, had one very simple comment for his teammates…..”Play Better!” The DCC hopes that the 5 new free agents recruited by The World will toughen them up.
With the ever-growing demand of Devo Cup fans to catch even a glimpse of their favorite players, security is a major concern. Due to past actions of some overzealous fans, the DCC has limited ticket availability to family and VIP’s. “The safety of our players is our chief concern” said DCC Chairman, Devang Shah.
The Devo Cup has once again declined to sell the broadcast rights to the event. Element Indoor Golf has been named the sole sponsor for The 2026 Devo Cup. Devo stated “We look forward to a long and prosperous future with Element Indoor Golf.”
