Rules and Information

Devo Cup Match Play Format:

1 Point will be awarded in each match.  If a match is tied, both teams will win a ½ point. (Much like the lesser-known Ryder Cup)

There are a total of 24 Points available.  The team with the most points wins the Devo Cup.

If at the end of the competition the teams are still tied, there will be a SUDDEN DEATH PLAYOFF on a hole to be determined by the DCC Chairman. All 11 players per team will play in a 1-hole team total net strokes playoff. A team total handicap factor will be used. The number of players per team in Sudden Death Playoff may be modified by the DCC, based on player availability.

Devo Cup Special Rules:

Pace of play is EXTREMELY important. North Oaks Golf Club has made some very special exceptions for The Devo Cup. Please complete all Four Ball and Singles matches in less than 2 hours. Please complete all Pinehurst matches in less than 1 hour and 50 minutes.

1.       All out of bounds balls can be can played as a lateral hazard and be dropped within two club lengths (no closer to the hole) from the point it crossed the boundary.  The penalty is one stroke.  Your opponent MUST agree with the spot chosen.  Your opponent has final say.  (This is to help with pace of play)

2.       If a ball is lost but is believed to be inbounds, you may take a drop with a one stroke penalty.  Discuss with your opponent the area that you estimate the ball to be and where you think it you need to drop.  Your opponent MUST agree with the spot chosen.  Your opponent has final say.  (This is to help pace of play)

3.       Additional rules may be added or changed as deemed necessary by the DCC.

**Please note, the 14 Club Rule does not exist in The Devo Cup.  Feel free to bring as many clubs as you can fit in your bag.  Adjustable clubs may be modified at anytime during a match.  Laser range finders may have the slope setting turned on.

Pinehurst Format Rules:

In the Pinehurst Format, both players on a side tee off, then they switch balls. Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice-versa. Each player hits his or her second shot. They then select the best of the second shots, and from that point until the ball is holed they play only one ball in an alternate shot format.

Switch balls after the drive, select the one best ball after the second shot, play alternate shot until the ball is holed. The player whose second ball was not chosen gets to play the third shot (so teams might sometimes choose the best ball after two shots based on who will get to hit the third).   A player may putt with any ball of his choice once their team is on the green.

All rulings by Devo Cup Committee (DCC) will be final.
